Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. Additional Description: This 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL was sold new in Germany and imported early in its life to the US, where it was acquired by its current owner/collector. The car has been undergoing a three-year long top to bottom restoration that was recently just finished. The work included a color change to Labradorite Green Metallic, new Tobacco Brown leather upholstery, service of its 2.8-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission, installation of a modified air conditioning system, and much more. There was nothing left untouched in this restoration, The vehicle comes with a color-matched hardtop, a data card, tools, factory literature, all records from inception and a clean title. Originally Moss Green Metallic (834), the car was repainted in a Labradorite Green Metallic (298) earlier this year as the restoration was nearing its end. The finish is shown up close in the gallery along with photos of the color-matched hardtop and newly installed brown soft top. Steel wheels wear polished and color-matched hub caps with Hankook Optimo tires tires with 2017 date codes. Both Brake and suspension components were either rebuilt or replaced with new components. The Tobacco Brown MB-Tex interior was reupholstered and features beige German square-weave carpeting throughout. Over $60,000 was spent on the restoration.
